Holo a todo soy Derek Bros. Con resistancia concienta. And I'm here in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico, where there's a protest going on right now against violence. Last week, there was an assassination of a local mayor in Urapan, two hours away. Two hours away in Orapan, a mayor named Carlos Manzo, who had been openly speaking against and advocating against the cartels, was assassinated on the Day of the Dead. And the day after that, on Sunday, there was. There was massive protest in Centro, downtown Morelia, including violence with some people smashing windows, busting their way into the governor's palace, and burning some of the buildings. So now today, one week later, there is a protest against violence. You see some of the protesters, they have signs about Zionism, about Israel, and there's also just signs about general violence in Mexico, in Michoacan, in Morelia. So we're going to follow the protesters. We're going to go check out the final side of the protest, which is going to end up in Centro, outside of the governor's palace once again. And we're going to try to talk to people to find out why they're here and what they think should be done about the violence in Mexico. Stay tuned. Okay. The protesters started out blocking, walking on one side of the road, and now they've taken up both sides of the road. As you can see behind me, they now have the whole street to themselves. You can see some businesses are choosing to shut down since the protest is happening. Probably a sign of the violence that took place last week. This is not the first one that they're closing down. Another business here, two businesses choosing to close down. This is a protest against violence, chanting about Zionism. They're chanting about the narco government and all kinds of different causes. It's kind of a mix of issues. You see the communist flag, the LGBTQ flag, the anarchist flag. So they are getting very close to the governor's palace, which you can see behind me a little bit right there. So here's the governor's palace behind me. You can see they've got metal gates out right now, and there's this kind of protection of the windows. There's still broken windows over here, smashed windows. You can kind of see we'll get closer in a second. So this was the site of the violence last week after the assassination. Now there's gates and there's a bunch of cops over in this corner. It's pretty common in Mexico and Morelia for people to tag government buildings. So you See this spray painting, that's not unusual. That's kind of common. But these broken windows from last week, that is not typical. And this, they've got this door protected. This was the door that was busted down and people went inside and set things on fire. And here's more busted windows, which they were repairing just about an hour ago before their marchers showed up. Here's more busted windows. More windows. So this was the site of conflict in Morelia right here last week, which is right here next to the famous cathedral. And yeah, over here we see some of the police, all the different police, bike cops. There's probably hundreds, hundred cops or so who are armed in riot gear. Right. Protection, They've got shields, things like that. So they're ready to come out if necessary. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. D race. This is just a sign that Mexico, especially the youth, you'll notice that most of these people here are younger. There's a few older people. The youth are sick of the violence and they want to do something about it. So we're going to ask people here what they think, if they think more government's the answer or what they think the solution is. Portolo anterior pasadas utirisar gusto momentos. Came sando casis. All right, guys, we're wrapping up here now in Morelia. Micho can after the protest, if you want to see me do more reports like this in Mexico, in espanol and in ingles, please let me know in the comments. Until next time, remember, you are powerful, you are beautiful, and you are free. Peace.
